GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK 2O14 WITH LOKJACK BIZBOOSTER!

With its continuing high levels of ingenuity, the first Caribbean commercial business incubator, “BizBooster”, launched by the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business in May 2012, is pleased to be a proud partner and supporter of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 which will be celebrated in more than 150 countries around the world from November 17th – 23rd, 2014. Youth Business Trinidad and Tobago (YBTT) is the local host of GEW in Trinidad and Tobago.

BizBooster provides a catalyst for the developmental and growth of businesses that would increase national and regional prosperity. According to Professor Miguel Carrillo, Executive Director of Lok Jack GSB “the business incubator was not a new idea; but the difference with the concept, is that it is designed to assist entrepreneurs through all stages of growth. This new concept would facilitate entrepreneurs in achieving 3 to 5 times more annual growth.”

“Our mentorship and networking have been excellent thus far to our entrepreneurs; these are services that are critically needed on the local landscape.” said Candace Brathwaite, Manager, BizBooster. The good news is that BizBooster is not limited to graduates of Lok Jack GSB; entrepreneurs throughout Trinidad and Tobago can become beneficiaries of the services once they are talented, motivated, possess the right attitude, social and creative skills. “Their businesses must have the potential to achieve global status, employ requisite strategies, attract local, regional and international markets, and have resource capabilities” Carrillo said. He stated that “the most critical challenge for any entrepreneur is to achieve growth.”

Coming out of the BizBooster facility are some success stories worth boasting about! One of these is Heavenly Hands Cleaning, a residential cleaning service, which was able to extend their services through the support provided by BizBooster. Another major success story, is Scofield Thomas, Owner and Founder of 800-Tech Limited, an ICT Outsourcing company whose success was largely due to BizBooster’s intervention.  According to Thomas “BizBooster facilitated my business by providing resources that assisted in the execution of my business strategy as well as understanding our target customers.”

BizBooster will host its GEW event – “Entrepreneurship for SMEs: The Role of the Family” on November 18th from 5:30pm – 8:30pm. For more information, please email s.charles@lokjackgsb.edu.tt.
